Welcome to Murray Allgood Photography
Our studio and gallery is situated in rural Northumberland and specialises in country and outdoor photography. We also consult on and arrange photographic safaris to Africa.
‘Storytelling’ is at the heart of what we do. By creating albums and portfolios that tell a tale, we can develop a more complete picture of our setting – whether that’s the beautiful British countryside or the vast African plane.
As a husband and wife team, we’ve spent the last five years in Botswana, working on photographic safaris in the Okavango Delta. Since returning home, we’ve been based in the beautiful North Tyne village of Simonburn – an equally wild environment, rich in wildlife and rural subject matter.
In today’s digital world, millions of images are taken daily, whether on smart phones, iPads or high-tech Canon or Nikon SLRs. It’s easier to take ‘photos’ today than it’s ever been. But what does that mean for the quality of the moments we experience?
We see photography as more than just the mechanical process of taking a shot. It’s about the entire experience – from the initial emotion behind that perfect image, right through to mounting your picture on the wall.
In short, it’s personal. And if you get it right, it’s universal too. Over the years, it’s these personal stories that have become our specialty.
We provide photography tuition on any device – from SLRs to smart phones – and can offer advice on camera selection and equipment.
Our unique ‘storytelling through portfolio’ method has been developed from our experiences of teaching photography in Africa and can help to turn your ‘snaps’ into a unique work of art you’ll treasure.
We specialise in travel photography but provide a variety of tuition packages, depending on your needs, so please contact us to discuss your requirements. Tuition can be provided either on location or in our studio.
We provide advice and consultancy on photographic safari trips across Africa, with Botswana being a particular area of expertise as we continue to be in regular contact with our friends and colleagues there.
African tourism is extremely dynamic as the wildlife, and the best place to see it, is constantly changing. Having close links with people on the ground means we can provide up-to-the minute information to help clients chose the right destination and get the most from their safari.
Knowing the right experts in the field is also essential and we’re in frequent contact with many of Africa’s top professional photographers and guides.
